内容：The organizational structure and skills associated with successful pharmaceutical corporates was investigated in the Japanese ethical drug industry. The study design utilized a questionnaire targeted at corporate research project managers. This survey investigated the correlation between the performance of research project execution and organizational characteristics (fundamental human capital, budget for research projects, ability to effectively use available intelligence, ability to leverage external resources). Results identified that effective utilization of intelligence is be the most significant factor associated with a high level of research project execution performance and successful pharmaceutical research projects. Surrogate measures of intelligence include variables such as the capacity for analyzing external information and quick decision-making. No correlation was found between research project execution performance and ability to leverage external resources.
